My current O shoes, Inov-8, are about to be retired after about 3 years of excellent service. They are the only O shoes that haven't caused rubbing on my Achilles tendon. Over the summer, I've been running in Brookes Concordia trainers. These are great but won't stand up to the rigours of prolonged running through New Forest heather and streams. Can anyone recommend a good make / model of O shoe?
New Balance and Swoop
I have run in New Balance shoes for about 6 years up until 2 years ago - whilst very comfortable - no blisters etc. they fell apart with monotonous regularity.
I am now on my second pair of Adidas Swoop and they are great.
Swoops
I'll second the Swoops. Although I prefer shoes with dob spikes for orienteering in, the Swoops are my current favourite for a run out in the forest and I'll be wearing them on the OMM later this month.
Swoops
Where did you buy them?
Can't remember
Probably at an orienteering event but it could have been online....
Innov-8
Ive gone through about 6 different shoes in the last 3 years and have yet to find the right comfort/lightweight/durability combination.
I really dont like Innov-8s as they dont suit my wideish feet and ripped my heels to shreds. The Salomon XTrails are comfortable and I like the fast convenient BOA lacing system, but cant stand up to much undergrowth. Im currently on my 3rd different pair of New Balance trail shoes, and whilst comfortable again wont last too long.
