Introductory talk at each event

As seen at the Wednesday events (and in North Carolina!) - advertise on the flyer for all events a time at which newbies can turn up and receive an introduction to the sport. This serves two purposes: a) they find out what they are supposed to be doing and b) they are more likely to come because they know they're going to be ca(te)red for.

That said, Terry and Di did a superb job today with helping the hoardes of beginners. I guess the main advantage of the approach advocated here is that, on a low budget, one person can do the talk and then still get out for their run. The downside is that you may have to deal with more people at once and hence give them less individual attention. That and they can't just turn up when it's convenient to them.
