SOC - What do we do?
Last update: Thursday, January 3, 2008 9:59 PM

Southampton Orienteering Club has been in existence for over 30 years and members are based throughout the whole of South Hampshire. They range from families who enjoy a ramble around a wayfaring course at a local event to fit athletes of widely varying ages, who can hold their own in international competition.

We are fortunate in having most of the New Forest within our boundary. Here we find some of the best orienteering terrain in the South of England. A new area of the forest is chosen for our main event of the year, the 'November Classic', when around 1000 competitors take part.

SOC have also mapped many areas in the county including Farley Mount and Queen Elizabeth Country Park which are used for smaller events.

The club organises a few social get togethers throughout the year however most members get to know one another by helping at our events. SOC have their own magazine/newsletter, which is published bi-monthly.

There's always a warm welcome for new members!

If you would like to know more or are interested in joining us please contact our Membership Secretary, Julian Lyne Tel: 023 9226 4001, email: julian_lyne@yahoo.co.uk or any of the committee.

Changes to the membership structure of the British Orienteering Federation (BOF) were introduced as of Jan 1st 2007, and these changes, together with event entry fee changes, may affect the way that you consider membership.
