The Solent Summer Series provides eight local orienteering events on Saturday mornings throughout the spring and early summer. All the events are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Beginners and youngsters will be given a skills passport at their first event. The passport will guide you through your first few events and introduce you to the basics of orienteering. At every event we will have club members to help you on your way. Complete three events and get your orienteering skills certificate.
This year we have two competitive leagues, the Open league for individuals competing on the Light Green courses and the Junior league for juniors competing on the Yellow and Orange courses. Your best four results count towards your league position. Prizes will be awarded for the top three competitors in each league.
The table below shows the events that make up the series. They all run on a Saturday morning. Turn up at any time between 10:00 and 11:45 to register and run. Entry fees are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and under 25s, £2.50 for a family group including at least one child. This covers the map, hire of an EMIT card (timing device), computer print-out of results, and any guidance or assistance needed.
