Permanent courses are, as the name suggests, orienteering courses that are available all of the year round based on static markers - normally wooden posts with a red & white square on them. They are usually designed for beginners but often include more difficult options for improving or experienced orienteers. They are a great way to improve your navigation skills, experience orienteering without needing to attend an event, or to simply make a walk more interesting.
The map below shows the permanent orienteering courses established by SOC. Select a blue marker to find out more details about each venue. When you have completed one or more courses you can claim your free, personalised certificate.
