Our club chairman, Julian, is organising the QECP event on 3rd April and would like to share his experience with anybody who has thought about trying their hand at organising a small event but has yet to commit themselves.

The club is grateful to have a number of experienced organisers who regularly step in to take on the task but we need to increase that number so that the load can be shared more evenly.

This is an excellent opportunity to participate in the sport in a new, rewarding capacity so please give the offer some consideration and contact Julian if you are in the position to take up the offer.

We are pleased to be able to resume our sport with a closed event at Queen Elizabeth Country Park on Saturday 3rd April. It will be run using the covid-secure precautions which worked so well at our previous events and full details will be posted on the club website once finalized.

Reminder: this weeks Zoom social will be a pub quiz hosted by Ian Wells. 

Ian has run a few quizzes for his family and friends and has offered to host one for SOC. Who will be SOCs top quizzer? The Quiz will be run using an interactive website. Each question is multi-choice with 30 seconds to answer. There will be 4 of 5 rounds of 10 questions in each (hopefully some orienteering questions! - Rob) The website then automatically give the results.

Starts at 20:00 Thursday 18th March. Opportunity to chat after and discuss the (hopefully) imminent restart of outdoor exercise and orienteering.

Then for the 1st April social, Mark Light will be giving us a talk and demo on Mapping. Mark updated the Farley Mount map used in December (his first time mapping) and he is now the Mapping Officer for the Club. Mapping is an incredibly important part of our sport so it will be great to learn a bit more about mapping and everything that goes on behind the scenes to produce our excellent maps.
