Level D & Army Reserves Championships, Lucas Castle, Sat 13th September

Profile picture for user Pete Davis
By Pete Davis , 8 August, 2014

Our next event is a Level D at Lucas Castle in the New Forest on 13th September. It's also the Army Reserves and UOTC Championships which will mean an extra 80 or so competitors.

Lisa James is planning and is providing a good range of courses for a Level D: Yellow, Orange, Long Orange, Light Green, Green and Blue.

The Army has asked for extended start times so registration will run from 10:15 until 14:00 and starts from 10:30 until 14:30.

Because it is their championships they need a formal start grid with a -3 minute call-up. Civvy EOD will still be turn up and run.

As with all our events, the people who have the best time are those who help out! Yes, I'm looking for volunteers. If you are able to help in any way please let me know by email to peter.davis [at] ymail.com (peter[dot]davis[at]ymail[dot]com)

Thanks in advance

Pete

Event comments

Thanks to the 10 who came to  the event.  Well done Andrew Nash on getting all the controls in 39 mins. Closely followwed by Kevin Bracher in 40mins. A couple of controls were maybe dubious on my part, with other lamp posts or telegraph poles close by. The map using Ollie O'Brian's Open Orienteering map worked well for the most part but some footpaths were missing (added by me) or incorrect, and the is no opportunity in the programme to amend errors. Oh and the beer festival was good!
