2022 Spring League 03 - Winchester

The event will be available from Friday 22nd April. For your run to count in the League, you must submit your results by the end of Thursday 5th May 2022. After that, you can still have a go at the course but it won't count for the League.

Location: Please park in the car park at the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park, Bar End Road, Winchester, SO23 9NR. What3Words: decompose.downs.curve. Parking costs 80p for up to 1 hour - Free after 7pm. There is alternate parking close to controls 12 and 30 where parking is free from 4pm. The start is on a path between the nearest 2 parking lanes at the entrance to the car park.

Format: 45 minutes, 30 controls. Points are 10, 20, or 30 per control: 10 points for 1 - 10, 20 points for 11 to 20, 30 points for 21 to 30 and so on for a maximum of 650 points. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.

MapRun app: Use the new MapRun6 app. Do not use the original MapRun app as it does not understand the score format. When navigating to the event, select UK > Find Your Way > FYW South Hants > FYW SOC League 2022.  See the MapRun website for guidance on configuring your phone.

Map: The map is a 1:7,500 OpenOrienteeringMap. There are both ‘stick’ and ‘pseudo’ maps available and the PDFs can be downloaded below. It may be beneficial to take both maps.

Terrain: The course is around the residential area and primarily on pavements and rough pathways. There are some steep hills.

Safety: The area is bisected by several main roads however the optimum course choices should avoid these - however please be careful when crossing these roads. Under 16's should be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed whether marked on the map or not – this also includes squeezing though holes in fences!

Social: Thursday 5th May 2022 at The Black Boy, 1 Wharf Hill, Winchester, SO23 9NQ from 7.30pm. Pizzas are served on a Thursday evening.
