2023 Spring/Summer League 06 - Riverside/Townhill

The sixth event in the 2023 Spring/Summer SOC MapRun League.

The event will be available in the app from Friday 23rd June 2023. For your run to count in the League, you must submit your results by the end of Thursday 6th July 2023.

After that you can still have a go but it won't count for the league.

UK> Southampton> SpringSummer League 2023> Riverside

Location: Car park off Manor Farm Road near to the tennis court. 279 Manor Farm Road, Southampton, SO18 1NZ. Start/Finish is on the path between car park and tennis court.

Format: 45 minutes, 30 controls. Points are 10,20 or 30 per control: 10 points for 1-10, 20 points for 11 to 20 and 30 points for 21 to 30 for a maximum of 600 points. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.

MapRun app: Use the MapRun6 or MapRun V7+ app. Do not use the original MapRun app as it does not understand the score format. See the MapRun website for guidance on configuring your phone. 

Map : The map is a 1:7500 OpenOrienteering map. The PDF can be downloaded below.

Terrain: The course is mostly around residential areas and is hilly to the south and east.

Safety: There are several road crossings, most of the residential roads are relatively quiet. Some control sites will require you to cross Woodmill Lane and Townhill Way. These can be busy especially during rush hour. In most cases you can run along one side of the road whilst waiting for a gap in the traffic; where possible use the crossing islands. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Fences are not to be climbed, whether marked on the map or not-this also includes squeezing through holes in the fence!

Social: Thursday 6th July 2023 from 7.30 at The Hop Inn on Woodmill Lane, just round the corner and up the hill from the car park.
