Eastleigh South MapRun March 2024

The activity will be available in the MapRun app from Thursday 7th March until the end of 7th Sept 2024. If you wish to compare notes on the course, please complete the activity before the social on 21st March.

Location: Starting and finishing close to the Cricketers Arms, Eastleigh. Additional parking on local streets, please check restrictions!

Avoid parking at YMCA on Wheildon Way, as it is monitored and requires verification.

Format: 45 minutes, 30 controls. Points are 10, 20, or 30 per control: 10 points for 1 - 10, 20 points for 11 to 20, and 30 points for 21 to 30, for a maximum of 600 points. There is a penalty of 10 points per minute late back or part thereof.
MapRun app: Use the MapRun6 or MapRun7 app.

Map: The map is a 1:7500 OpenOrienteeringMap. 
Terrain: The course is a combination of (mainly) residential and parkland running. Be aware that not all paths and fences in the parkland are marked on the map although the ones on the map are easily discernable!
Safety: All people doing this MapRun activity in the evening must wear hi-vis, a headtorch, and bring a spare torch or batteries. Most of the roads to be crossed are residential ones although there are a couple of roads which carry through traffic. Please take care when crossing and try to do so via permanent road crossings. Some route choices and checkpoints are near open water and streams, take care and be aware of conditions underfoot. Under 16's should be accompanied by an adult. All fences are not to be climbed whether marked on the map or not – this also includes squeezing through holes in fences!

Social: Thursday 21st March 2024 at the Cricketers Arms, Chestnut Ave, Eastleigh SO53 3HN  from 7.30 pm.
