Hursley Park
Hursley Park is the ninth and final event in this yearβs SOC Summer Series. Hursley Park is a small area of parkland and more intricate campus like buildings.
We have courses for beginners and families and will have our friendly club coaches on hand to offer help. For children who are new to orienteering we have free whistles and a skills passport. After taking part in three races they earn their very own certificate - ideal for show and tell at school!
There is a Light Green course for experienced orienteers - this course is part of the Summer Series league and provides a great chance to compete and train at the same time. The league so far has had 110 different runners with 2 runners having competed in 7 out of the 8 events (one of them is the planner for the Hursley Park event). Mike Frizzell from BADO is uncatchable at the top of the handicapped League with 240 points (gaining a maximum of 60 points at 4 events). Second place is wide open with at least 3 runners in contention.
Provisional course details:
Yellow β 1.7km, suitable for beginners.
Orange β 2.1km, medium difficulty, suitable for beginner adults and improving youngsters.
Light Green β 4.3km, moderate difficulty, suitable for regular orienteers and those wanting more of a challenge.
