SLOW Winterfold Event on 9th May

The SLOW event on Winterfold was originally scheduled for November but was postponed due to Lockdown 2. Rearranging it for Sunday 9th May has involved completely new car parking arrangements as well as working around a film shoot, so they have only been able to confirm that they can go ahead relatively late in the day – hence their request that we publicise the event to our members.

Winterfold is an outstanding area that has been used for the JK, British Championships and a World Cup race and will be near its very best at the beginning of May. The OK Nuts Trophy event will offer a full range of course from White to Black and has car parking in a field close to the forest.

MapRun and Socials update

We are about to enter week 3 of the MapRun League. The courses will be published to the App for tomorrow. The details for the 3rd event around the Lordswood estate and edge of Lordswood are now available here. You have from tomorrow until the 25th April to take part. 

If you are interested, I am suggesting we run it together as a social next Thursday 22nd April. Start sometime between 6-7pm and hopefully see some friendly SOC faces. 

In April and May, I will continue to organise Zoom socials and extra MapRun socials. Do get involved and come along, it would be great to see you (either in person or by video!) We had 15 people along last night to learn more about how to make the most of Routegadget, how to analyse your results, and improve your orienteering.

You have two days lefts to take part in week 2, North Baddesley MapRun. 25 people have taken part so far. Can we beat the 35 people we had for Abbotswood last week? Current results are available here.

Completed both MapRun score events and each time controls in or on the edge of woodland haven't recorded, however both the Garmin and MapRun traces trace indicated I have been well inside the control circle. So with the next one including Lordswood I don't expect to record many controls I visit near or in the woodland!
