Southampton MapRun available

By Webmaster , 4 January, 2024

Highfield map exceprtOur latest MapRun is now available, this time around Highfield, Southampton. It follows the usual format: a 45-minute score to collect as many controls as possible with a time penalty for late return. The controls are worth different amounts so careful planning is needed to maximise your score. Also, beware of the hills!

Full details are on the MapRun page, including a map to print. Download the free MapRun app to get notified when you are in the correct place for each control and track your time and score. The course will be available for the next six months, but we'll meet at The Crown Inn at 7:30 pm next Thursday (11th January) if you want to run beforehand and then compare routes with others.

Junior Summer Camp Reports

Profile picture for user Ian Moran
By Ian Moran , 31 December, 2023

The Junior Regional Orienteering Squads (JROS) organise five summer camps for orienteers between the ages of 14 and 20 each year. Camps are held at Lagganlia near Aviemore, Czech, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Hawkshead in the Lake District. Juniors from our region receive financial support from SCOA. You may be interested to read reports from the four athletes from our region who attended the summer camps in 2023, including SOC’s Duncan Currie, who travelled to the Lagganlia camp in Scotland.
