SOCK Articles

By Jenny Jones , 3 June, 2015

I am looking to get the next issue of SOCK released towards the middle of July, so please could I have any articles, reports, stories, photos etc. sent to me by 1st July! This issue will cover from the beginning of April up to the end of June so can include: The JK, The British Champs (Long, Relay, Sprint and Middle), Springtime in Shropshire and the first 7 events of the Summer Series among many others.

This will be my first issue as editor so I'd like to make it a good one!

SCOA AGM

Profile picture for user Ian Moran
By Ian Moran , 3 June, 2015

The South Central Orienteering Association co-ordinates the activities of the orienteering clubs in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Activities include co-ordinating fixtures between the clubs, running the regional junior squad, training courses and providing a platform for organising the larger events where one or more clubs come together to stage events such as the British Championships and JK,

The Association will be holding it's AGM on Thursday 18th June in Newbury to which all club members can attend.

There are number of committee positions which are available; these are Chairman, Coaching, Junior Squad Manager and Treasurer. The Junior Squad Manager and Treasure are willing to stay on unless there is someone keen to take their place, but this could also be an ideal opportunity to shadow someone for a year before taking on the role. There are about four midweek meetings per year which are held in Newbury. These meeting provide a great opportunity to meet people from different clubs and learn a little more about what is happening outside our Club environment.

Should you require any further information, please let me know and I can provide a job description or introduce you to the incumbent.
