November Classic Results Archive

Terry Smith has just completed the mammoth task of trying to populate an archive of historic results for the November Classic. Thanks, Terry, and to all those who contributed to the process. The results, dating back to 1968, can now be found here. As a challenge, Terry suggests trying to find the years in which the current British Orienteering CEO, Peter Hart, competed.

CompassSport Trophy Results

Congratulations to the 34 SOC members who ran at Holmsley today at the CompassSport Trophy! We were third out of eight. Sadly only two go through to the final, but it gives us hope for next year!

It was a freezing cold day so a massive thank you to the SOC members who helped: Ian (as controller), Norman, Helen, Barry, Rebecca, Alastair, Bernie, David and Julia, as well as Terry who volunteered to be a jury member.

Apologies that we didn't get everyone in the photo - that's the problem with a long start window. It was lovely to catch up with people in Allan's awning after their runs.

The next chance to run for SOC is the British Orienteering Championships Relays in March - look out for details.

SOC dinner and skittles evening, Sat 25 Feb (payment needed by Sat 18 Feb)

Dear all,

In this winter of strikes, here is an opportunity to have some of our own! On Sat 25 Feb, we're going to have a SOC dinner and skittles evening at the Phoenix Inn in Twyford. The plan is that we eat at 6pm and then have the skittles alley to ourselves for some fun competition!

Cost is £18 per person, covering dinner and the skittles. This needs to be paid by no later than Sat 18 Feb, and you also need to let me know your meal choice by then, choosing one of:

- Spit Roast ½ Chicken & Chips

- 3 Pork Sausages & Chips

- Two Haddock & Spring Onion Fish Cakes & Chips

- Homemade HOT Beef Chilli, Boiled Rice & Garlic Bread

- Phoenix Style Beef Lasagne, Mixed Salad, Homemade Coleslaw

- Vegetarian Lasagne, Mixed Salad & Homemade Coleslaw

Payment should go to the club current account, using reference "Skittles". Those of you who ran for us in the CompassSport Cup, it's the same account. If you didn't and need to know the details, I'll send them to you when you let me know what food you want.

The more the merrier, but there's a limit of 40 people so the sooner you sign up, the more chance of getting in!
