JK Relays and Club Captain's Calendar

Please get back to me before midnight on 13 January 2016 if you would like to run the JK Relays in Yorkshire.(Apologies for the short notice but this is the first entry deadline)

The following classes are available - please let me know if you have a preference for any of these:

  • JK Trophy & Women's Trophy
  • Men's & Women's Short
  • Senior Men (M120+) & Women (W120+)
  • Veteran Men (M165+) & Women (M165+)
  • Ultra-Veterans (M/W 210+)
  • Intermediate Men (M48-) & Women (W48-)
  • Junior Relay (M/W40-)
  • Mini Relay
  • Mixed Ad Hoc

13 March: Compass Sport Cup First Round (New Forest - organised by SOC)

30 April/1 May: British Championships with the British Relay Championships on the Sunday

Invitation to 17 Port Maritime 1hr Night Score event Tue 19th Jan

17 Port Maritime Regt asked SOC members to help stage a 1hr Night Score event at Marchwood. They have kindly invited local club members to join them on their training exercise. See the details below if you would like to join in. Please note the request to contact the organiser if you plan to go to ensure enough maps are printed and the recommendation to take photo ID.

Location: Marchwood Barracks, Marchwood, Southampton, SO40 4ZG. You are recommended to bring photo ID (Driving License or Passport) with you and mention Orienteering at the gate.

Registration Times: 6:00pm - 7:15pm in the Gymnasium

Start Times: 6:15pm - 7:15pm

Courses: 1hr Score

Cost: £5

Map Scale: 1:5,000

High viz tops are highly recommended, as are spare torches.

 

Comments: The majority of the course is contained within the barracks with 1/3 of the course within the local village; this would ideally suit newcomers to orienteering as majority is contained within the Barracks itself but offers the more experienced orienteer the option to collect all marks within the village. The Barracks in places is wet. Please contact the organiser stuart.southwick809 [at] mod.uk (stuart[dot]southwick809[at]mod[dot]uk) to reserve a map. Emit Touch-Free Training controls will be used.

 

Junior fees for all under 25s

Recently the committee was asked to re-introduce a reduced entry fee level for students. The committee felt that this might be difficult to implement but was very keen to encourage participation by young adults. We've decided to extend junior entry fees to all those under the age of 25 on the day of the event. We are looking into the practicalities of implementing this change but for now we can confirm it will apply to the events in January and February.
